The Schools Solutions Group, a division of McGraw-Hill Education, has an immediate opening for Spanish Editor to work in house on a project basis Reading/Language Arts.
Responsibilities:
Edit, proofread, and rewrite where necessary teacher and student Spanish Reading/Language Arts materials to ensure that the materials meet marketing needs and the needs of Spanish reading teachers and students
Work closely with design and production to ensure that design implementation is consistent with product purpose and specifications and that art and design supports and enhances the print at the same time that addresses and meets the sensitivity issues of publishing educational materials for the Hispanic/Latino elementary school market
In collaboration with the Senior Editor and/or Managers, develop explicit writer guidelines, including book maps, topic matrixes, and scope and sequence charts
Identify and communicate with authors, writers, consultants, outside vendors, and reviewers as needed to ensure quality products that meet customer needs
Check layouts through all proof cycles
Maintain project files and records as needed
Track related research, classroom practices, and educational trends
Work as a positive, supportive member of the product development team
Track the status of project components to ensure adherence to the schedule and project guidelines
Alert Senior Editor and Editorial Manager in advance of any problems that may affect meeting the schedule, quality, or budget objectives and proactively offer solutions
Requirements:
Undergraduate degree in a related field
1 - 3 years Spanish Reading/Language Arts editorial experience, preferably or, teaching Spanish Reading/Language Arts elementary education
Good writing and editing skills in Spanish and English
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet established deadlines
Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to work in a collaborative environment
