Position : Radiation Therapy Manager

Radiation Therapy Manager The Radiation Therapy Manager, under the direction of the Cancer Center Director, is responsible for daily coordination and supervision of operations in Radiation Oncology. The Manager is responsible for carrying out assignments in a manner to assure success in financial management, human resources management, leadership, quality and operational management objectives. He/she participates in program development, policy development, unit performance improvement, including regulatory & billing compliance, fiscal and capital budget preparation and strategic planning. In coordination with lead personnel, he/she prepares and delivers employee performance evaluations and disciplinary actions. The Radiation Therapy manager is technically and clinically competent, adheres to department standards, and can fill in when department needs dictate. The Radiation Therapy manager consistently demonstrates the core values of Enloe Medical Center and serves as a role model to other employees. The Manager operationalizes Enloe Medical Center's mission which is to provide high quality, cost effective healthcare for the people in the communities served. The Manager: -Participates in the development and management of department budgets and productivity targets. -Manages human resources utilization, promotes employee satisfaction, supports staff development, and utilizes the progressive discipline process when appropriate. -Leads employees, supports organizational goals and decisions, implements necessary changes, and participates in strategic planning for service needs and resource utilization. -Maintains and promotes quality service and best practice. -Participates in quality improvement processes and assures implementation of regulatory standards. -Ensures service is provided considering the age-specific physiological, emotional, and cognitive needs of the patients served. -Continually evaluates departmental function and the delivery of patient service. -Keeps Director and administration informed regarding level of care/service being provided and level of patient, employee, and physician satisfaction. -Acts as a liaison between the patient/family, physician and patient care team as necessary to problem solve. -In conjunction with Director, translates knowledge of professional and regulatory standards to policies, practices, and procedures and maintains for current changes. -Researches interdepartmental problems/issues and takes corrective action in timely manner and promotes respectful responsive communication between departments to promote patient centered care. -Supervises staff in service areas. Guides staff in the adherence to applicable standards of care / practice and/or departmental / organizational expectations. -Acts as a resource to other departments for education and information in area of expertise. -Works with medical staff to make recommendations for staffing, equipment, supplies and physical facilities. -Oversees procedures for the care and maintenance of all equipment. -Prepares or supervises preparation of daily and weekly orders, assessing and revising standards as necessary. -Is responsible for completion of patient charge documentation and recovery of lost charges. -Maintains competencies and technical skills at a level to function fully in the clinical setting, and maintains knowledge base necessary to provide direction to staff. EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:Minimum:Certified Radiation Therapist 2 years supervisory, charge or management experience 4 years in radiation oncology setting Preferred: 3 or more years supervisory, charge or management experience LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:Minimum: Certification in Radiation Therapy Current CPR recognition. SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES: Knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality improvement processes is necessary as well as the ability to successfully integrate these into practice for the assigned unit. Must have knowledge of or ability to learn financial management and reporting, quality improvement processes, and human resources management. Must be able to effectively monitor, evaluate and administer the resources of their assigned area, and make substantiated recommendations regarding resource allocation needs for future planning purposes. Must have the ability to lead, motivate and delegate. Must have excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills to maintain a high degree of rapport with patients, co-workers, physicians and the public. Must be able to assist with problem solving of operational and procedural issues and interpersonal conflict within the department. Must be able to provide effective mentoring, coaching, constructive feedback, and counseling to staff as needed. Calculates figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume with a high degree of accuracy. Applies concepts of basic algebra and statistics. Must be able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally both one-on-one and in groups. Must demonstrate technical competence, professional clinical judgment.
