Position : PostgreSQL Database Administrator/Architect/Advocate

Senior position While having traditional rockstar qualities (the brooding-guitarist sensibilities, the long, possibly permed hair, the suspiciously high ratio of leather pants to non-leather pants, and so on) is a plus, we'd love to have someone with PostgreSQL rockstar qualities to manage Emma's growing production and development infrastructure. Emma's DBA will manage the day-to-day operations of one of the largest and most unique Postgres database environments in the world, working closely with the systems and development teams to create, test and implement architectural and schema changes. You'll troubleshoot issues, gather data, optimize queries, research errors and maintain an active presence on the Postgres mailing lists. And you'll show the rest of us where to shop for those aforementioned leather pants, which, let's admit, are pretty stylin'. Desired Skills: * Proven experience managing, supporting and designing a large and complex production RDBMS, preferably PostgreSQL, or comparable experience with Oracle/SQL Server, etc. * Strong SQL query writing and optimization skills * Fluency with at least one procedural SQL language (PL/pgSQL, PL/SQL, etc...) * Superior troubleshooting, communication and documentation skills * Experience testing and debugging code * Thorough understanding of Linux and hopefully Sun Solaris * Experience with PHP, Python or other comparable scripting languages We're looking for folks who would like to live and work in our fair city of Nashville, with relocation possible for the right candidate. We will also be happy to consider people who live near our newish office in Portland, Oregon.
