The US Tax Controller is responsible for US tax reporting for all Oil & Gas businesses & for specific tax compliance programs & initiatives. Supports development & recommendation of tax policy & provides technical advice with respect to areas of assigned responsibilities. Participates in implementation of programs within areas of assigned responsibility.

* Prepares and files tax returns, pays tax liabilities and defends audits of previously submitted tax returns.

* Ensures tax compliance deadlines are met by facilitating and coordinating efforts across multiple functions to gather required tax-sensitive data.

* Examines transactional work papers, schedules and reports gathered from business employees for accuracy, errors & omissions.

* Works with tax & finance employees to document & support all significant financial reporting positions taken with respect to income tax accounts (including effective tax rate reconciliation), examine & evaluate all deferred tax balances, reconcile income tax returns to ledgers, settle quarterly/annual taxes from GE Corporate & perform or monitor reconciliation of SFAS109 income tax accounts in accordance with GE account reconciliation policy.

* Coordinates SOX 404 processes & reviews with respect to tax functions and extends these processes and reviews to serve as integral "real-time" internal audit or tax controllership reviews.

* Conducts indirect tax reviews and oversees reconciliation to ledgers.

* Evaluates financial reporting processes & financial information systems for transparency and ability to obtain, reconcile & control tax-sensitive data. Develops new processes and schedules to ensure adequacy of all tax compliance programs and initiatives within areas of assigned responsibility.

* Advises & counsels about contemplated tax return positions, & supports defense & settlement of audited tax returns.

* Manages external tax consultants. Assists in outsourcing of tax functions.
Qualifications

* CPA certificate or other professional accounting / finance license.

* Undergraduate or post-graduate degree from an accredited four-year institution of higher learning with significant academic focus on taxation.

* At least 6+ years of experience working full-time as tax professional on multi-national clients' tax-related matters.

* Ability to evaluate complex proposals and anticipate, identify, and resolve tax-related risks and opportunities.

* PC proficiency.
