Yes Date Posted 08/01/2008 Closing Date (Things you should know about closing dates) 10/15/2008 Position Description The Common Range Integrated Instrumentation System (CRIIS) program, a new developmental program awarded to Boeing Training Systems and Services, located in St. Louis, MO, is seeking a Systems Engineer to work in a highly dynamic environment developing the next generation of range instrumentation equipment for the United States Air Force (USAF). The selected applicant will oversee requirements analysis activities for processing Time-Space-Position Information (TSPI) data received from Global Positioning Satellites (GPS) to help develop a preliminary design for this innovative USAF program. To support the credibility of our proposed design and prove the low risk nature of our design, the candidate will also support production and test of a prototype CRIIS instrumentation pod to be flown on Boeing's F-15E1 test flight aircraft. Finally, the candidate will work with other team members to submit a proposal for the System Design and Development and Production phases of the program. The successful candidate will be a member of the CRIIS Systems Engineering and Integration Team (SEIT). This team will be responsible for all Systems Engineering activities associated with developing this state-of-the-art product design. The successful candidate will be principally responsible for providing engineering oversight for the technical aspects of the system design and production effort proposals but will also be tasked with supporting other aspects of the program. Some examples of anticipated work responsibilities include performing Trade Studies, generating support plans and analyzing proposed subsystem designs for TSPI and GPS issues. The selected candidate applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify a lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions. Evaluates customer/operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. Performs various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture. Performs analyses for reliability, maintainability and other specialty quality factors to determine a preferred system configuration that ensures mission success. Develops the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes. Education and/or Experience Level 3 - Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 5 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Level 4 - Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience.
