The Account Manager is responsible for the effective and profitable management of assigned customer accounts. They are primarily focused on growing and maintaining existing accounts.
- Works with current customers to provide value and meet service needs.
- Participates in sales calls for new accounts.
- Outlines, presents and sells the value of our products and services that can benefit our customer needs.
- Participates in plant visits to gather samples, observe instruments, and obtain information and analyzes / interprets results and reports any corrective actions to the customer.
- Conducts required training of operating personnel to ensure their understanding of the parameters under which their equipment operates.
- Builds upon internal relationships and starts to develop strong relationships with customers.
- Partners with peers and management to enhance selling techniques and approaches.
- Effectively coordinates relationships and interfaces with Commercial Operations, Technical Marketing, Product management and other functions.
- Documentation of observations at plant visits updates and contributes final reports intended for an internal audience.
- Effectively manages time and budget or expense parameters.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the water treatment field.
- B.S. Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Industrial, or Mechanical), Biology, or Chemistry,
OR
- Bachelor's Degree in any discipline plus at least four (4) years of experience in the water treatment field.

- Be 18 years of age or older.
- Be willing to submit to a background investigation (Motor vehicle record, criminal, education and prior employment), physical evaluation and drug screen.
- Possess unrestricted authorization to work in Country of posting.
- If currently a GE employee, you must have been in your current position for at least 12 months and have at least a highly valued performance rating.
- Ability and willingness to work in range of environments to include but not limited to industrial facilities, manufacturing facilities, and power industry facilities.
- Willing to work long hours, at times. Flexibility is a must.
- Ability and willingness to reside in location of posting.
- Ability and willingness to travel within territory. Travel requirements for the position will be discussed further during interview process.
Desired
- Demonstrated sales / people skills and/or aptitude.
- Solid communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Proven sales record or demonstrated aptitude to succeed in a technical and relationship driven business.
- Demonstrated computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Willing to work independently (after proper training) and be a self-starter.
