John Deere Agriculture Equipment in Fargo North Dakota is seeking a Senior Electronic Design Engineer to design, modifiy and evaluate electronic products for use in rugged environments to meet quality, delivery and cost goals. In this position, you will: Develop new applications of technology for product development and be expert user of critical technology. Produce and/or evaluate possible design solutions for electronic assemblies to improve cost, quality and performance based on electronic design knowledge of engineering applications together with the involvement of manufacturing, mechanical, software and other functional engineers, supply management and supplier personnel. Create, analyzes, reads and understands technical requirements written by others to determine the best technical solution for complex problems or projects of difficult scope. Compile and furnishes necessary information to document the design solution required for building of prototypes and adoption of the design with possible involvement of other functional engineers, supply management and/or supplier personnel. Provide technical support to marketing, manufacturing, quality and supply management organizations. Develop and/or executes test or analysis plan for product verification and validation. Lead in resolution of product based difficult technical issues whether within the company or with outside suppliers Education Bachelor's of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience. Master's of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis in power electronics is desired. Required Skills & Experience 5+ years experience in electronic hardware design and development for power electronics applications. 3+ of those years in power electronics design for motor controls (Permanent Magnet, Induction, or Switched Reluctance). Desired Skills and Experience Design of embedded controls for power electronics. Experience with designing to harsh environmental specifications. Experience with power electronics designs in a variety of DC voltage levels (up to 800 Vdc). Experience in power electronics design for DC-DC converters. System knowledge of hybrid vehicles. Experience and knowledge of testing, manufacturing, and quality control. Experience with engineering tools (Mathcad, PSPICE, PSIM, Simulink, etc.), systems and databases. Experience with Mentor Graphics or other schematic capture tools.
