GRADE LEVEL: HOURLY + COMMISSION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Generate and cultivate mortgage loans for the bank. 2. Formulate and maintain a marketing plan for business development with real estate and builder communities with a focus on Viking Bank's current customer base, as well as new customers. The marketing plan is to include participation in various community outreach activities and networking groups that demonstrate a measurable impact on business development. 3. Be knowledgeable with loan underwriting guidelines in order to successfully complete loan interviews, applications and collect documentation required to meet the Bank's standards and those of Bank business partners/vendors/secondary market. Recommend loan solutions to meet customer needs and have an understanding of all regulatory requirements for processing real estate loan transactions. Application interviews may need to be conducted either inside or outside Bank branch locations. 4. Work in unison with loan and retail partners to successfully achieve Bank goals and objectives. Maintain accurate and timely tracking records. 5. Coordinate the loan application and underwriting processes with borrowers, real estate agents, building contractors, underwriters, escrow companies, etc., to achieve timely loan closing and demonstrating excellent customer service. 6. Responsible for meeting minimum production goals, as outlined in the Compensation Agreement. 7. Other duties as assigned. ENVIRONMENTAL / PHYSICAL / MENTAL REQUIREMENTS The Mortgage Loan Consultant works in a setting in and out of the office. Much of his/her day may be spent at a desk or out in the community developing new business. He/she must possess the ability to accurately read, comprehend and inspect for errors on checks, financial instruments, loan documents, title policies, appraisals, inspection reports, loan approval condition sheets, processing forms, letters, memos, divorce decrees, child support judgements, self-employed income analysis worksheets and other paperwork containing critical financial and legal information. This individual must be able to verbally communicate with clarity, while comprehending and explaining information as complex as contracts and real estate documents. QUALIFICATIONS * Minimum 15 years of mortgage loan experience demonstrating an excellent comprehension mortgage loan processing, underwriting, closing and compliance requirements. * Minimum 15 years of strong sales experience. Demonstrated talent working with the public in sales and customer service. Must be a self-starter and have the ability to work with minimal supervision. * Working knowledge of mortgage related software applications (Encompass, Prospector, Clues/Clout), various internet applications, MS Word and Excel, MS Outlook and Explorer. * Proven skills in organizing, working with details and meeting deadlines. * Excellent verbal and written communications and interpersonal skills. * College degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
