Responsibilities Design, tune, maintain and support database systems for highly available, high-volume Internet applications. Assist the development teams with application schema design and applying best practices. Respond quickly to critical support issues. Communicate regularly with development and support teams regarding database status and changes. Mentor network operations and development teams in database technologies and trends. Work with development teams to evaluate and recommend new database technologies and features. Develop database technology standards and associated documentation. Work with the network and security teams to ensure database adherence to security standards. Ensure that customer SLAs are met at all times. Maintain and improve disaster recovery plans. Requirements 5 years experience as a senior database administrator for high availability Internet sites. 2 years MySQL experience. 3 years Microsoft SQL Server 2005 experience. 2 years Replication and clustering experience. 3 years Linux / UNIX experience. Multiple database vendor/platform support experience preferred (Oracle). Solid understanding of performance and tuning of databases utilizing SAN's.
