John Deere World Headquarters is seeking a Senior Engineer to support the ADV (Accelerated Design Verification) Facility activities driven by unit customers needs. This position will plan, coordinate, and perform product verification and validation (PV&V) measurement and testing projects for unit customer Product Delivery Process (PDP) and Technology Delivery Process (TDP) projects. These projects will be a significant portion of the structural verification activities required by the PDP or TDP projects. In this position, you will: Be the expert in the instrumentation of off-road products ranging from small subsystems to full vehicles for structures verification and customer duty cycle. Be the expert in the acquisition, processing, and analysis of data gathered from physical field and lab testing. Provide leadership in developing and executing measurement and test PV&V plans for enterprise customers utilizing the ADV Facility. Process collected data to verify possible design solutions. Process collected data to provide engineering information to either assist or lead cross functional design teams in developing quality, cost effective design solutions. Provide customer duty cycle (road load data acquisition) project support to the enterprise: 1) work with units to develop instrumentation channel lists; 2) select and/or design measurement transducers to obtain data; 3) work with technicians to install instrumentation equipment; 4) work with unit customer processing requirements for duty cycle data; 5) develop the instrumentation setup files for data acquisition systems; 6) provide measurements field support and transducer development. Education Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred). Master's degree in Engineering desired. Required Skills and Experience Experience in the collection of field data on self propelled vehicles. (Off road preferred, on road acceptable). Experience in selection appropriate transducers for instrumentation. Experience with CANbus data acquisition. Experience in reviewing field data to insure that the data is valid. Experience in processing large quantities of data through programming automation. Experience in the setup and operation of data acquisition systems. Experience in the installation and set up of strain gages, accelerometers, displacement transducers, and other analog and digital transducers. Fundamental understanding of Fatigue Theory. Desired Skills and Experience Experience with SOMAT EDAQ equipment. Experience with GlyphWorks and/or nSoft software. Experience in designing custom load transducers. Experience with cellular based communication data acquisition systems. Experience in gathering and processing customer duty cycle (road load data acquisition) data. Experience with Pro/ENGINEER. Working knowledge of Fatigue Theory.
