SageWalk's wilderness program offers a powerful and significant approach to help your teen overcome emotional and behavioral problems. Our mission is to resolve family conflict in order to reunite families that have been torn apart by the behavioral problems of a troubled child. By offering committed, professional services that challenge boys and girls ages 13-17 emotionally, academically, and physically we help troubled teens understand the causes of low self esteem, learn to overcome behavioral problems, and return home with respect and cooperation as the goal, instead of conflict and strife. We use our family conflict theory as the basis of reaching this goal. At SageWalk, we have developed a "cutting edge" set of courses designed to pace each student's progress through the program, while addressing prominent issues that impede normal adolescent development and emotional growth at school. We are seeking an Academic Director to supervise the work of academic staff with management over site for hiring, performance management, professional development and training and recommending and approving personnel actions such as salary increases and promotions. Assists and guides assigned students in all areas of the school's program. Assigns students to classes when enrolling, prepares academic reports, provides updates on new students, tracks student progress, responsible for teacher training, monitors independent studies and oversees students with specific learning needs. May provide classroom instruction as needed. Job Responsibilities: Provides updated educational information to Teachers, Admissions Department, and other program staff on a regular basis. Tutors students on learning needs/adaptation methods/self-advocacy/learning styles. Monitors student's progress, receiving regular input from Teachers. Reviews student's grades and maintains an updated student academic plan. Attends and chairs faculty and department meetings. Meets with Academic Department on regular basis to update process and discuss individual student needs Maintains accurate records/transcripts, compiles grades, enters data, prints report cards, makes grade charts and maintains student files. Schedules new students in classes appropriate for their educational plan. Provides updates and relevant information on new students. Recommends budget of the Academic Department and manages the approved budget. Supervises and directs faculty in their capacity as classroom teachers. Arranges class coverage for teacher absences and notifies staff of substitute. Participates in curriculum development and evaluation, developing academic policy, overseeing the development and scheduling of classes, and the purchasing Follows through with teachers and other staff to maintain an effective system for tracking each student's academic progress.
