J ohn Deere Waterloo is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to plan, coordinate and perform manufacturing engineering work for projects or processes of moderate scope or for a significant portion of a major and diverse project or process. In this position, you will: Plan and implement the manufacture of new products and processes. Develop gauging and work holding solutions. Plan and implement quality planning activities including statistical process control, process monitoring, and product inspection. Troubleshoot and resolve production process, machine, and quality issues. Recommend process flow and manufacturing cell design. Establish routings, methods, layouts, tools, costs, methods documentation, quality plans and labor standards for revisions to current operations and/or new parts or programs of moderate scope. Provide support and trouble shooting for current operations. Innovate and implement cost reduction, quality, safety and ergonomic improvement ideas. Assist in the development and implementation of plans to support lean manufacturing through the Deere Production System of moderate scope and design operations layouts. Improve material flow and material presentation. Support team studies related to capacity, productivity and efficiency of moderate scope. Assist in analyzing and making of modifications to existing performance pay plans; assist in development of baseline data for new performance pay plans. Specify, design, and manage the procurement of gear and shaft manufacturing equipment, tools and gauges. Establish initial component manufacturing cost estimates. Establish alternate processes in response to equipment breakdown or conflict. Be responsible for achieving operating budgets related to production supply expenses including tools, fixtures, coolants and handling equipment. Education Degree in an Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering discipline or equivalent experience. Required Skills and Experience Experience working in a manufacturing/engineering environment. Demonstrated ability to initiate and complete multiple, concurrent projects. Knowledge of manufacturing processes. Desired Skills and Experience Manufacturing Engineering experience. Experience applying gear and shaft manufacturing tools and technology. Knowledgeable in the methods of external and internal gear manufacturing. Experience in shop floor process adjustments necessary to correct geometry and quality problems. Experience with shop floor manufacturing incentive pay systems such as CIPP (Continuous Improvement Pay Plan) and work measurement.
