Yes Date Posted 08/07/2008 Closing Date (Things you should know about closing dates) 09/08/2008 Position Description As a member of the National Team, the candidate will support the integration of Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) capabilities, concepts and design in the areas of Battle Management/Command Control/Communication (BM/C2/C), and RF / IR sensor management and integration. Performs trade studies and participates in studies designed to help define, tailor, explore, and evaluate missile defense capabilities, and to help resolve programmatic/technical challenges affecting cost, schedule or performance. Supports the documentation of existing or new capabilities through the development of design packages that comprise the supporting analysis, definition, and architecture needed to document, allocate and trace BMD System and Element level requirements. Participates in the development of system/component architecture and behavior analysis using a structured UML modeling approach. Coordinates trade, study, analysis results with stakeholders; schedules, presents or monitors issue resolution, product updates, and approval of design / requirements packages through engineering review / approval process. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Hands-on development/design/analysis experience with BM/C2/C and/or RF / IR sensor capabilities / requirements development. Experience with system modeling and optimization techniques. Strong coordination, organization, teaming and communication abilities along with horizontal integration skills. Experience developing solutions to a wide range of complex technical problems, requiring ingenuity and innovation. Ability to develop, document, and maintain processes, methods, and tools.Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify a complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions. Evaluates customer/operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. Performs various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture. Performs analyses for safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success. Develops the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes. Education and/or Experience Level 3 - Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 5 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Level 4 - Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
