The Microsoft Federal Intelligence/Homeland Security (IH) services team assumes a key role in supporting the successful and accelerated achievement of our customers' objectives through Microsoft products. To continue supporting our customers, we are actively hiring Premier Field Engineers with a powerful combination of advanced technology skills and strategic business acumen. The role requires Superior problem solving and troubleshooting skills at the System Engineer level; exceptional customer service, overall communication and technical writing skills. Must have sufficient technical depth to communicate with development and other internal organizations at a peer level; Must possess the ability to work independently with minimal management supervision and as part of nationwide team of engineers; Demonstrated aptitude for providing exceptional customer service in politically charged environments; Ability to enhance the technical expertise of peers via the development of product training, mentoring of new hires, and team content development; Ability to apply technology to improve existing products and systems at customers and for internal use; Ability to actively participate in team support by proposing and implementing solutions; Assist in developing strategies to gain additional Premier support accounts by contacting and establishing relationships with Premier Support Managers and Technical Account Managers. Overnight travel is required. Travel requirements vary regionally and could be as much as 40-70%. Candidates must possess current passport or be able to obtain passport within 90 days of hire. They must be available for travel dispatch 24x7x365. Education: College degree, preferably in Computer Science, is required. MCSE strongly preferred, but not required at hire; however, must be obtained within 12 months of hire. Will consider related field (or equivalent) experience. In addition, a working knowledge of the U.S. Intelligence Community, Homeland and/or Civilian Agency community, and an active security clearance is preferred. We are looking for experienced individuals to be located in the Washington DC area to be a part of this exciting team - some travel is required. Typical tasks performed in this role include specific problem isolation and correction, conducting application design and technical reviews, performance tuning, application stability consulting/troubleshooting, code reviews, porting/migration assistance, configuration/administration management, pre-rollout testing and general development consulting. The PFE position requires a long list of technology experience or demonstrated understanding of these technologies. The ideal PFE skill set is grounded in a solid understanding of the Microsoft Windows platform. From this foundation, the PFE position is exposed to many technologies, including but not limited to: Windows SharePoint Services, SharePoint Portal Server, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server, IIS, SQL Server, development with .NET languages, XML and Scripting technologies, and data access technologies. Practical user mode debugging is a preferred skill, but not required.
