Support Services Specialist 2 (Class Code:SS02-14355) CLOSING DATE: Open Until Filled FULL HIRING RANGE: $3042.00 - $3917.00 Per Month AGENCY HIRING RANGE: $3,042.00 - $3,408.00 Per Month DEPARTMENT: Department of Corrections, Prisons, Honor Conservation Camp LOCATION: Newcastle GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK: As Food Services Manager, plans and directs work of subordinate supervisors and inmate workers; including full responsibility for preparation and serving of meals, and work activities; responsible for safety and sanitation training, providing documentation; provides quality control for products developed; supervises work of subordinate supervisors; responsible for timekeeping, refrigeration logs, sanitation records and production schedules. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Plans and directs operation of food services, assuring meals are prepared and served; inspects work areas, monitoring proper food handling, preparation and storage; inspects food services department work and storage areas, ensuring they meet health, sanitation and safety regulations; maintains documentation on inmate training and temperature and sanitation logs; maintains security of area in accordance with institutional policies, procedures and regulations; ensures proper timing and delivery of meals; ensures safe use and maintenance of all food service equipment, to include planning and providing training on use; plans menus for special diets and diet modifications; plans inmate work schedule; evaluates inmate workers on a monthly basis. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Knowledge of procedures to prepare meals in large quantities; knowledge of nutritional requirements; knowledge of safety and sanitation regulations; knowledge of special diets; knowledge of equipment use, both standard and specialized; knowledge of the use of a computer. Skill in meal planning and preparation; skill in organization; skill in management and supervision; skill in oral and written communications; skill in leadership; skill in interpersonal relations; skill in planning special occasion meals. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of training and experience equivalent to a high school diploma, PLUS six years of experience in the planning, preparation and serving of food in a commercial, community service or institutional food service operation, INCLUDING one year with supervisory or lead-worker responsibility.
