This individual will work with other IT personnel to actively participate in discussions and research solutions that improve the efficiency and quality of the company's operations. The individual will work with other departments to suggest and resolve hardware and software issues. Typical working hours will be between 8:30 - 5:00 with the occasional visit to the NY office. At least 10 total years of information technology experience At least 7 years of hands-on experience in Microsoft Windows administration in a medium-to-large scale environment At least 3 years of hands-on experience in a top-tier fund or financial services firm Expert knowledge of Microsoft Windows platforms and operating systems, including design, installation, administration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, security and capacity planning. Windows 2003 Active Directory Internet Information Server 5 or greater Exchange 2003 DNS, WINS and DHCP Windows Cluster SQL Server Experience using scripting (VBScript, PowerShell, WMI, Batch, etc.) or system automation tools to streamline maintenance tasks and maintain configuration standards Experience with Blackberry Enterprise Server, including implementation, maintenance and performance tuning. Experience supporting Citrix server farms delivering mission-critical applications to remote users Working knowledge of virtualization technologies, especially VMware product suite Thorough understanding of networking principles, practices and technologies, especially the TCP/IP protocol suite. Experience supporting modern storage architectures and data replication technologies, such as EMC Clariion/Symmetrix,Celerra, Doubletake, ReplStor, DFS, or similar products Familiarity with disaster recovery and business continuity planning. Demonstrated expertise in implementing and maintaining a reliable backup and data retention strategy for all information assets. Working knowledge of effective system monitoring tools which promote proactive response to faults and errors, such as HP Insight Manager, HP Openview, MS Operations Center, etc. Strong communication skills; capable of presenting complex ideas to both technical and non-technical people. Experience in training and assisting junior system administrators and help desk team members while serving as an escalation point for advanced support issues Willingness to work non-standard hours when necessary to resolve problems and deploy infrastructure changes and to wear a pager to respond to off-hour incidents. Very good analytical and problem solving skills. DesiredSkills Familiarity with email and/or documenting archiving solutions, like EMC EmailXtender, Mobius, etc. Familiarity with BMC Control-M job scheduling and administration is highly desirable. ODBC functionality and configuration. Familiarity with Cisco routers and switches. Working knowledge of Instant Messaging products (Symantec IMManager) Working knowledge of Linux/Unix administration. Demonstrated ability to work as a cooperative team member in a dynamic environment. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in one-to-one and one-to-many situations. Self-reliant; ability to spearhead individual projects while working as an effective member of a broader team Demonstrated excellence in working within a high-availibility environment designed with redundancy and diversity; to deliver services with little to no impact to end-users during system problems and failures Knowledge of securities operations, clearance, and accounting functions is a plus. B.S. in Computer Science or related discipline is highly desirable.
