Responsibilities: Perform spirometric testing pre and post medication, Perform additional pulmonary function testing: diffusion testing, cardiopulmonary exercise testing. total lung volumes and airways resistance, Assist the Pulmonologist with pulmonary endoscopic procedures in all areas of the hospital , Follow moderate sedation protocol for all endoscopic procedures, Participate in a variety of patient education initiatives, Work with the research center, and house staff with ongoing research testing, Assume responsibility for weekend call schedule when required (once every 5 weeks), Participate in IDX schedule initiatives after appropriate training, Participate with the outpatient code team, Travel to regional sites once or twice per month, Perform point of care arterial blood gas testing, Participate in risk management, JCAHO, and Departmental initiatives, Maintain ACLS, BLS and current professional interest, knowledge, and certification, and complete Pulmonary Function Credential Testing after one year . Requirements: Graduate of Accredited Respiratory Therapy Program. New York State License Registration. Prefers 2 years experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in an Acute Care Setting . New grads considered . Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist by the National Board for Respiratory Care or eligible.
