MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Perform all duties of a Financial Services Representative I and Financial Services Representative II as needed.

2.Serve as a resource to coworkers, management, other departments and community contacts.

3.Participate in departmental/divisional Performance Improvement and Quality Assurance controls.

4.Perform special projects as assigned.

5.Troubleshoot systems or non-routine functions.

6.May lead and/or train other department members.

7.May fill in for supervisor during supervisor's absence.

8.Perform research and analysis.

9.Follow policies and procedures governing the handling of confidential information as defined by Cincinnati Children's mission and applicable laws and regulations. Ensure timeliness, accuracy, availability and security of information.

10.Follow Cincinnati Children's established code of ethical behavior in decisions and actions regarding marketing, admission, transfer, discharge and billing.

11.Provide services in a manner to be regularly and conveniently available to meet the needs of Cincinnati Children's patients, families and employees as determined by department management and Cincinnati Children's governing body.

12.Develop knowledge and professional skills through cross training, literature and attendance at department meetings.

13.Participate in improving organizational performance through recommending areas or approaches for improvement activities, performing new procedures, collecting data and providing input to department discussions.

14.Participate in establishing job requirements and goals; perform duties at the desired level of competency.

15.Ensure that work areas are organized and present a safe, accessible, effective and efficient environment for employees, patients and families. Attend required Cincinnati Children's training sessions, including radiation safety, laboratory safety, bloodborne pathogens and OSHA. Comply with Infection Control policies and procedures.

16.Understands, adheres to and models Core Standards as defined organizationally and specifically within the department/unit.

17.Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS: Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to relate to diverse age and demographic backgrounds. Computer literate and expert knowledge of mainframe, (KIDS, Signature, Invision, etc.) and software applications (word processing, spreadsheet and database). Capable of working independently, performing non-routine functions, problem solving and providing follow-through. Ability to develop recommendations for improvement, policies and procedures. Knowledge ICD-9 and CPT Codes may be required. Demonstrate attention to detail, teamwork skills and ability to prioritize and to meet deadlines. Knowledge of standard office equipment and medical terminology helpful. Technically competent in the applications, procedures and processes of the department/division. Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external customers and to serve as positive representative of the departments.

EDUCATION\WORK EXPERIENCE: Minimum 5-7 years' previous experience: 5+ years of experience at CHMC performing level I and II functions, 7+ years' of experience external to Cincinnati Children's performing level I and II functions. High School Diploma or equivalent and 'Excels' performance rating for the two most recent appraisals and documented completion of professional coding certification or completion of an Associates degree or completion of 18 contact hours of continuing education within the last three years. Continuing education hours must be related to the position and will not include Cincinnati Children's mandatory training sessions. Recommendations for advancement by direct supervisor. When hiring an external candidate into the level III position, members of the 'Financial Service Representative Quorum' must agree unanimously on the appropriateness of the employment prior to a job offer being extended.
