The Mobile Communications Product Group is creating a dedicated team to own the end-to-end experience for Mobile Internet Devices. We need an outstanding User Experience Program Manager to drive this end to end experience across all the facets of the product.
Job 1 for the team will be the vision: a breakthrough user experience that ignites the category, hardware and software design that delivers this experience, and a business model that makes this a great investment for Microsoft. Job 2 will be to play a central role in bringing real products to market: developing key device experiences, driving requirements in services and OS platform teams, and collaborating with ecosystem partners (OEMs, mobile operators, ISVs).
You should be passionate about building delightful, yet simple user experiences, about Internet experiences and about mobile devices. You should be excited about the opportunity to work with a talented design team and with passionate marketers to bring together the user experience that both delights end users and enables effective business models for Microsoft. You should be comfortable as the PM owner of interaction model, UI design, hardware/software interaction and hardware industrial design.
The ideal candidate possesses experience in:
Demonstrated success as the owner of delightful, yet simple user experiences through multiple product cycles
Experience with shipping consumer electronics user experiences
Demonstrated ability to make effective design trade-offs through all stages of the project
Demonstrated experience leading through influence as the owner of user experience
Experience working with Design and Usability teams
High level understanding of the Microsoft developer story and web services
Passion for Internet experiences and mobile devices
Candidates must have a BS in Computer Science (or equivalent), a minimum of five years of experience on major software development projects, and a proven track record in driving interaction model, user interface and hardware industrial design. Experience with software development for devices and a working knowledge of Windows Mobile is preferred. Prior Microsoft experience is strongly preferred.
