John Deere Davenport Works is seeking a 2 nd shift Production Supervisor to supervise a wage work force engaged in the manufacturing (primaries, welding and machining) of large manufactured components for loaders, graders and Articulated Dump Trucks (ADTs). In this position, you will: Support Fabrication on 2 nd shift production. Report to the business unit manager for fabrication. Establish resource plans to meet production and productivity goals. Coach and develop employees in either Continuous Improvement Pay Plan (CIPP) or Continuous Improvement (CI) teams to meet quality, continuous improvement, safety, and training needs. Work with wage employees and support staff to solve production and parts quality problems. Work with wage employees and support staff on planning for new product and process introductions. Provide timely written and verbal communication to wage employees, management, and other staff areas on problems, plans, safety, quality and other production related issues. Assist in resolving conflicts that arise between employees or between employees and staff. Gather information on parts delivery, quality, and production issues and is able to make timely decisions based on the facts that he has on hand. Be responsible for input into the departmental budgets and for making decisions to meet budget targets. Education Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Required Skills and Experience 2-4 years of supervisory experience. Experience interpreting and applying employee policies, procedures and work rules. Demonstrated mentoring/coaching skills. Good analytical skills. Good planning and organizational skills to meet departmental goals. Demonstrated leadership skills and results oriented. Good written and oral communication skills. Good PC Skills desired (including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint or equivalent). Ability to work in a team environment. Desired Skills and Experience Experience in heavy manufacturing and/or knowledge in welding and/or machining a plus. Experience in a leadership role in a union environment. Knowledge of Deere Production System or other formal production systems. This position will be posted for a minimum of 7 business days and unposted when a qualified pool of candidates is achieved.
