John Deere Agriculture Equipment is seeking a Design Engineer - Combine Engine Platform to design components and sub-systems of the combine engine platform. Significant content of these systems are highly engineered, purchased components. Design control responsibilities extend to product manufactured world-wide at Harvester Works, Zweibruecken and John Deere Brazil combine factories. In this position, you will:
Work with engineering, marketing, supply management, and suppliers to develop & validate design specifications for major sub-systems of the combine engine platform.
Work on multi-unit, multi-vehicle engine platform development projects. This includes facilitating meetings, developing and executing project plans, determining critical path issues, defining action plans, and communicating project status to management, other units, and suppliers,
Design and release of engine platform components and systems for future combine product programs.
Manage Product Verification and Validation activities for new designs. This will include procuring prototype parts, developing test facilities, overseeing test engineer & customer evaluation test activities, and documenting results.
Work with supplier(s), supply management, marketing and combine assembly factories to insure successful implementation of new designs.
Facilitate resolution of complex problems by seeking to utilize input from and talents of other engineers & staff. Provide technical support to marketing, manufacturing, quality and supply management organizations.
Education
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering or 6+ years of experience.
Masters of Science in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering, desired.
Required Skills and Experience
Pro/E modeling skills.
3+ years of product engineering experience including design & test.
Excellent organizational and communication skills to facilitate activities with supply management, suppliers, implementing factories and test personnel.
Desired Skills and Experience
Previous experience with engine development including base engine performance, cooling systems, exhaust gas aftertreatment, fuel systems, or auxillary systems is desired.
Technical knowledge of agricultural machines and their applications is desired.
