TheCareer Education division within McGraw-Hill Higher Education is looking for aPublisher for theirAllied Health program in their Burr Ridge, Illinois location.
Analyze and evaluate assigned markets, identify optional growth opportunities.
Supervise the acquisition of new products, verify the competitive quality of new projects and revisions. Acquire new products, manage competitive quality of specific titles, new and revised.
Coordinate and supervise market research studies which verify the accuracy and appropriateness of prescribed publishing programs.
Prepare and manage publishing programs by market area which identify opportunities, company position and market trends.
Supervise the negotiation of new publishing agreements ensuring that group quotas, gross margins, contribution margins, net operating income, etc., standards are met.
Ensure that new contract and revision proposals accurately describe primary market, primary competition, competitive advantages of proposed product, expected market share, manufacturing specifications and manuscript due dates.
Hire, train and manage editorial staff
Prepare and administer budget
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree. Graduate training in business beneficial.
Five-ten years successful record in educational publishing, editorial acquisition, product development, and sales.
Familiarity and working knowledge of entire publishing process (financial analysis, acquisition, manufacturing and marketing).
Previous management experience necessary.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills essential.
Strong strategic/visionary character
Approximately 25% travel
