The retail channel is vital to Microsoft's growth, not only for the direct revenue it generates, but also because of the Retail Channel's unique ability to help build brand equity and engagement, due to its outreach to consumer and Small Business customers worldwide. Microsoft has a long history of working with partners to reach consumers, and this certainly applies to our Retail go-to-market approach. Microsoft has developed tremendous relationships with retailers and distributors worldwide, making our retail successes possible. Windows has become one of the most engaging and recognizable consumer brands in the world today. While we have achieved a strong consumer presence; the opportunity for continued growth, in both our traditional PC business, as well as our new Online Services and Windows Business Group (OSW), has never been greater.
The Sr. Director for WW Windows Category will have direct accountability for driving WW Retail Channel and Retail Partner marketing strategies for Windows. This role will provide leadership to the WW Retail Sales and Marketing Teams, as well as WW Services for Windows Client Products and Technologies, and is responsible for creating, leading, and executing marketing initiatives and campaigns at Retail, while building the Windows brand, and driving sales and affinity of Windows products through Retail. These products include: PCs (MNA and Local) and FPP (Windows, WAU, and COEM (where applicable)). The role will also serve as the primary interface for key business groups (BGs) at corporate headquarters, consumer marketing partners, and channel organizations; partnering with them to develop the long-term vision; while ensuring alignment and successful execution between the marketing and business plans at Retail.
Key roles and responsibilities for the Sr. Director for WW Windows Category include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Achieve scorecard targets for the overall Windows category (i.e., revenue, units, mix, forecasting, contribution margin and marketing spend); inclusive of rationalizing and maximizing revenue for Retail across license types (i.e., FPP, WAU, COEM, and Tech Bench).
2. Drive and execute a comprehensive all-up Windows Retail marketing strategy within the country's Retail Channel; inclusive of product launches, marketing campaigns, consumer initiatives, and managing new channels or methods of distribution.
3. Work with WW E&D Sales Management Team to build business cases, as appropriate, for promotional opportunities; including an analysis of market conditions, consumer targets, and competitive threats. These business cases should deliver the maximum ROI, as well as tie directly to scorecard metrics.
4. Oversee Retail Channel field executions that are aligned with the corporate vision, goals, strategies, and priorities; providing in-depth Retail business analysis at the country-level, Windows business performance, and BOS percent attach.
5. Set strategy for Retail Channel and give direction for key account management presentations and meetings (i.e., marketing initiatives, tradeshows, and events)
6. Attain Windows Consumer Category Management KPIs through creation, validation, and flawless execution of category-based merchandising plans (i.e., product assortment, retail messaging, share of voice, RSP guidance, etc.)
The Sr. Director WW Windows Category must possess a proven track record in working cross-functionally and collaborating with various sales and marketing teams; located at Corporate, as well as within the Field. Examples of these relationships include, but are not limited to, the following:
* E&D Sales and Marketing Leaders
* Windows Consumer Subsidiary v-Teams; inclusive of COI, OEM, and CMG
* Online Services & Windows Corporate BGs
* IW BG Lead
Key measures of success equate to the Windows Consumer Scorecard (Note: metrics will vary by country):
* Windows Consumer Premium Mix Sell-thru at Retail(Software and PC Aisles)
* Windows Vista Retail
