Storage Engineer
Requirements:
-Tracking and manage all costs relating to server and storage hardware and software.
-Make recommendations regarding equipment, software upgrades, and development/support projects.
-Serve as a project manager for internal projects.
-Perform ongoing capacity planning.
-Participate in direct hands-on support within some or all of team responsibility areas.
-Provide and post procedural and informational documentation regarding all team systems and services on the company intranet.
-Participate or lead cross-functional project and process improvement activities as necessary.
-Provide direction to team, and prioritization of team activities, projects, and initiatives.
-Ensure all systems and procedures conform to Computing Security policy through review and audits.
-Conduct bi-annual performance reviews and set individual performance goals.
Responsibilities:
-SAN Responsibilities
-Manage the enterprise SAN environment team whose core responsibilities include: HP EVA SAN technology and the Brocade SAN Directors.
-Manage and take ownership of the overall design, configure, and deployment of SAN solutions. This requires knowledge and hands on experience of Brocade and HP EVA technologies.
-Manage the performance and capacity planning: monitor, reconfigure, and tune all SAN technologies
-Facilitate the planning and document all SAN design and support responsibilities.
-Participate in scheduled off-hours service outage upgrades.
-Communicate issues clearly to business and technical groups within the company.
-Enterprise Backup Responsibilities
-Manage the team responsible for the design, configure and maintain enterprise backup environment (CommVault) managing Windows and Unix systems.
-Manage the team responsible for the configuration and maintenance of enterprise backup and VTL technologies, including all remote locations
-Manage the team responsible for the performance and capacity planning: monitor, reconfigure, and tune backup library and CommVault software for performance improvements and future scalability.
-Manage the team responsible for the facilitation and planning of backup changes and feature upgrades
-Participate in scheduled off-hours service outage upgrades
-Communicate issues clearly to business and technical groups within the company.
-NAS Responsibilities
-Solid background with Unix and Windows environments including maintaining CIFS and NFS protocols
-Provide 3rd tier support for the production site and services - troubleshoot technical problems as they arise.
-Enforce system and network security procedures.
-Performance and capacity planning: monitor, reconfigure, and tune NAS hardware and software for performance improvements and future scalability.
-Facilitate the planning of NAS storage changes and feature upgrades.
-Participate in scheduled off-hours service outage upgrades.
-Communicate issues clearly to business and technical groups within the company.
Required Skills, Education & Experience:
-Bachelors Degree in a technical field required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
-Experience working in the Information Technology industry a plus
-Experience providing or supporting web technology applications and implementations
-7+ years of working in an engineering/operations role within a large scale, heterogeneous environment. 4+ years specific storage experience.
-Experience working with and managing vendor and provider relationships
-Customer focused positive attitude, patience and tact.
-Ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment required.
-Ability to work both as a member of a group and as an individual contributor.
-Exceptional organizational and communications skills.
-Limited travel may be required.
