Description :
Performs installation and support for Linux and Solaris based systems including integration, backup, recovery, security, and day-to-day management and maintenance. Position involves support for systems running Oracle databases, Oracle Application Server, Retek, MQ as well as other business critical applications. The ideal candidate will have experience with SAN or NAS support in a heterogeneous server environment which includes UNIX, Linux, and Windows clients.
Responsibilities:
Support of Sun Solaris and Red Hat Linux based systems.
Support OS included packages such as apache and JDK.
Cluster configuration and management (Veritas; Sun; and/or Red Hat).
System backup (Veritas NBU 6.0+).
System patching and user maintenance.
Mid-level project management.
Requirements:
2 year degree in computer science or related field and / or equivalent work experience.
4-7 years of applicable experience in a 7x24 environment.
Unix / Linux systems administration (Veritas Cluster a plus).
Experience with backup and recovery solutions and scripting to support automation.
Working knowledge of Sun Solaris 8 through 10.
Medium to high-level knowledge of Red Hat Linux (Enterprise).
3+ years of shell and/or perl scripting for administrative purposes.
Working SAN and/or NAS knowledge. EMC and Network Appliance (host level required ? storage frame level a plus).
Excellent communication and planning skills. Ability to interface with management and business partners at all levels including Senior Vice President.
Project management and team lead skills.
Mid to high level experience with Linux solutions and Linux clustering preferred.
