John Deere Seeding is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to plan, coordinate and perform manufacturing engineering work for a project or process of moderate scope or for a significant portion of a major and diverse project or process. In this position, you will:
Plan, coordinate and perform manufacturing engineering activities for new product programs, factory redevelopment and continuous improvement programs. Use computer aided design, process planning and facility planning tools to develop manufacturing process and facility plans. This includes developing product synchronization charts, graphical sequence of events, creating logical line designs, establishing work methods, time standards and material handling methods. Concepts tool and fixture designs including sourcing their design and build with external service providers.
Conduct PFMEAs and designs process controls for mistake proofing and develops offline programs to run machine/robot/PLC controllers for manufacturing.
Develop work instructions and decision support methods, create line balances and detailed physical layouts and 3D manufacturing process layouts. Use simulation and analysis techniques to validate and verify process and facility plans and provides analysis reports.
Conduct Virtual Build events with a cross functional team to virtually build the product and identify issues and resolve problems to reduce overall project or program risk related to manufacturing and highlights design for manufacturing and design for assembly improvements.
Work with Operations and Order Fulfillment manufacturing personnel to begin limited production builds and help with ramping up to full production and ensuring necessary production rates, process capability and productivity requirements are met.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Technology or an Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical or Systems Engineering discipline. Master's degree preferred.
Required Skills and Experience
3 years or more experience in one or more of the related engineering areas: industrial, production, methods, reliability, design, manufacturing, warehousing and distribution, quality.
1-3 years Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP) Manufacturing Design experience.
Lean manufacturing and deployment experience.
Basic understanding of design and balancing of mixed model lines.
Basic understanding of manufacturing databases and their inputs.
Experience with shop floor manufacturing, incentive pay systems and work measurement.
Desired Skills and Experience
Experience using VisMockUp, AutoCAD-FactoryCAD, ProE/ProI, Wplanner, ALiSS & POET, SAP ? Production Planning and Materials Management.
Systems modeling & simulation experience.
Factory start up experience.
High level understanding of design and balancing of mixed model lines.
Work experience in a team environment.
