Position Description
As a member of the Advanced BMDSE Technology Team in the Missile Defense Systems Division, the Sr. Systems Engineer will support multiple projects. The candidate will be responsible for providing technical input and coordination with multiple tasks including development of missile defense architecture concepts, architectural analysis, and advancement of Net-Centric Operations (NCO) and interoperability concepts. This position requires experience in engineering, management, and supervision in the engineering disciplines of missile defense, C4I systems, ground-based and space-based communications. Candidate should also have experience in design of missile defense C2 processing nodes and networks. Will apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to lead activities to plan, design, develop and verify highly-complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions. Leads others to evaluate customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. Leads analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture. Other duties will include leading and participating in the planning, analysis, identification, development/modeling, and system design work for complex SoS level requirements including integrated logistics support, information exchanges, interface control, and network configuration efforts. This individual will provide briefings on the developed requirements and associated processes and respond to other customer inquiries/directives. Some travel may be required; typically not more than 3 to 4 days per month on average. Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to lead activities to plan, design, develop and verify highly-complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions. Leads others to evaluate customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. Leads analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture. Leads analyses for safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success. Leads, develops designs and conducts research that results in new requirements management methodologies or result in unique approaches that mitigate assessment/review findings. Creates and implements strategic approaches for program and business area decisions. Works independently.

Education and/or Experience
Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's 14 or more years' experience, Master's with 12 or more years' experience or PhD with 9 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
