Position Description
An Instrumentation Technician in this position will be required to select equipment; determine layout; setup, install and verify installation of instrumentation equipment on items such as lab test articles, ground test articles, flight vehicles, and structures to the test configuration per engineering instruction. This position can be physically demanding. This job may require the performing of repetitive tasks on small components and large aircraft structures, including wings and fuselages, in awkward positions while working overhead, below floor level, including reaching and leaning. Instrumentation technicians may climb ladders and crawl through small or confined spaces. Technicians may operate mechanical lifts of various types (e.g., scissor lifts, elevated work platforms) in order to perform some tasks. Exposure to adhesives and solvents can be expected when performing certain instrumentation tasks. Technicians must follow Federal, State and Boeing guidelines to properly dispose of hazardous materials. Technicians will record, acquire and analyze test data from sensors to determine load, strain, temperature, sound and vibration. They will provide installation data to engineers in order to ensure complete calibration data for proper test results. This position will require the technician to work from wiring diagrams, equipment drawings, and verbal instructions and specifications to construct and install data systems and test fixtures. The technician may need to fabricate and validate mechanical and electrical test fixtures in support of tests.

Coordinate, organize, plan, sequence and assign work efficiently.
Effectively communicate verbal information such as tie-ins and job related information.
Knowledge of routing, clamping, tying, connecting and terminating wires and/or wire bundles in electrical systems and assemblies.
Knowledge of safe working practices, emergency procedures and possible dangerous situations.
Operate computing equipment to access job information (e.g., drawings, specifications and other online information systems).
Operate mechanical lifts of various types (e.g., scissor lifts, elevated work platforms) in a safe manner.
Operate various types of test equipment.
Read and interpret engineering drawings. Capable of visualizing a three-dimensional shape from a two-dimensional view, converting left-hand to right-hand views and understanding symbols, flag notes, and general notes.
Understand the application of technical documents/information such as BAC specifications, manufacturing plans and safety information.
Use various types of hand tools and/or hand-held power tools.
Education and/or Experience
High school graduate or GED preferred.
