PMO Project Manager (#1500)

Reporting to the Sr. Director of the PMO, this newexpansion position is responsible for the management of one or more medium to large-sized, moderate to highly complex projects ? business program and/or technology-enabled.

Critical Responsibilities:

You will manage all aspects of assigned projects over their life ? from initiation to closure - as well as manage the knowledge areas of project management including: scope, time, cost, resources, risk, communication, project integration, procurement and quality.You will also be responsible for convening the project Team from a pool of matrix resources and assigning individual responsibilities to members. The critical facets of the role are:

Process & standards development

Strategy, vision, & collaboration

Communication & diplomacy

Planning

Schedule/Time management

Project monitoring & control
Thishighly-visible role requires extensive interaction with technical staff, internal AAMC program management staff, external constituents, and vendors. It requires the ability to effectively communicate, lead, and manage project teams on projects with high levels of functional and architectural integration.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree; graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or Management is preferred. PMP certification highly desired

7+ years experience in development, implementation, and maintenance of large-scale systems, preferably across multiple hardware and software platforms; Big Five consulting experience a plus. Knowledge and prior experience in the business operations, organization, and administration of medical schools and/or academic health centers desirable

At least 5 years of management experience, in which one or more of the following occurred:

a) Demonstrated competency in the execution of multiple large projects
b) Demonstrated competency in leadership & rapport-building
c) Gained experience in managing matrix resources across multiple projects
d) Gained experience in leading multidiscipline work teams/groups
e) Demonstrated competency in developing effective solutions to complex business problems
f) Experience successfully meeting major project challenges despite project complexity and risk

Significant experience and knowledge in new computing architectures and implementation of networked computing structures , preferably utilizing UML, and SOA techniques implemented using Java, Oracle, XML or Web Services

Excellent oral and written communication skills required, including ability to make effective presentations, create project documentation artifacts, and interact effectively in negotiations and team settings serving multiple levels of constituents
