Sr. Visual Designer
In this a contract-to-hire opportunity, you will work closely with interaction designers, user researchers, marketing, product managers and engineers to define the user experience and visual design of these new products in an Agile (scrum) environment.
The person chosen will be a sharp, engaged Sr. Visual Designer who always strives to produce the highest-quality work on products - someone with great attention to detail and a strong command of typography, color theory, interface aesthetics and interaction design.
Responsibilities:
Qualifying for this position relies on real world applied experience and therefore you must provide an online portfolio that demonstrates;
-Define the visual design aesthetics, principles and language for a new search based product line.
-Help manage external contractors for a series of new visual designs.
-Identify other visual user interface requirements and define design approach.
-Create conceptual designs and suggest product direction based on field research and visual requirements.
-Create guidelines and design language for communications that express a new brand.
-Develop visual design prototypes ranging from comps to interactive mock-ups.
-Develop visual interface specifications.
-Work with interaction designers to integrate visual and interaction design.
-Work with usability leads to design and observe usability studies.
-Work closely with interaction designers, marketing and engineers in an Agile (scrum) development process to deliver products.
Required Skills, Education & Experience:
-5+ years of web visual design experience, with 3 or more of those spent on product user interfaces.
-Bachelors or Master's degree in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Communication Arts, Fine Art or related field.
-Self-starter that is able to work both independently as well as collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
-A strong portfolio of work with a mix of online interfaces, websites, and online branding.
-Commanding knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, InDesign among others
-Fluent proficiency in Flash- proficiency in Action Scripting a big plus.
-Working knowledge of Silverlight a big plus.
-Knowledge of capabilities and limitations of Web technologies such as HTML, XML, JavaScript, Flash, CSS, etc.
-Experience in conceptualizing promotional creative
-Strong layout, typography, color theory, and interaction design skills.
-Excellent communication, organizational and proofing skills.
-Must have a strong portfolio that match brand and beauty, and embody a strong passion for design.
-Portfolio must include online interfaces, websites, online branding, and flash work.
