John Deere European Service Publications Department (ESPD) is seeking a Translation Coordinator to coordinate all translation activities between the authoring community and the in-house and outside translators as well as the print & electronic production teams. In this position, you will:
Act as the sole Translation Coordinator between North American factories assigned, TIAC, ESPD and translation suppliers.
Manage translation projects and act as the point of contact for authoring community, translators and factories for translation jobs assigned.
Be located at the Technical Information Authoring Center (TIAC) in East Moline, Illinois, off-site from immediate supervisor.
Handle translation projects through use of the JD Content Management System-Technical Information Repository (TIR) and the translation workflow system (GXT) from project initiation to completion.
Request translation bids from translation suppliers.
Verify the translation bid and assign the translation project work to the supplier, based on department criteria.
Monitor translation job progress.
Verify completeness of work performed.
Submit translated manuals for publishing.
Maintain communication with affected units, departments and outside suppliers regarding availability of translated publication.
Advise authoring community on translation impact of authored material.
Education
[link removed] Bachelor's degree in an Education, Business/Management, Engineering/Technology, Agricultural Science or Marketing discipline highly preferred or equivalent education and practical experience.
Required Skills and Experience
Demonstrated project management skills.
Command of the English language and strong writing skills.
Authoring or translation experience with Technical publications.
Excellent verbal communication skills.
Ability to independently make decisions based on department policy/criteria with minimal supervision.
Proficiency of all MS Office Tools.
Desired Skills and Experience
Command of more than one language.
Experience with TRADOS or other translation software.
Previous translation experience (Spanish or French).
Prior experience as a project coordinator at a translation agency.
