Danger, subsidiary of Microsoft, , is looking for a dynamic Software Development Engineer for our Atlanta Engineering Center to help expand our growing radio software group. This team is heavily involved in the design and development of Danger's exciting and innovative series of hiptop/Sidekick smartphones. The ideal candidate would have a solid hands-on software engineering background and a passion for programming in C / C++ and Java for innovative and state-of-the-art mobile devices.
Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for integrating and adapting 3G wireless radios to Danger's OS platform.
- Architecting, designing and developing new parts of Danger's Operating System code
- Implementing and debugging radio/wireless modem interface/adaptation libraries
- Designing and enhancing networking capabilities
- Working cross-functionally within the SW and QA disciplines to ensure smooth integration and the highest degree of quality of the components
- Create and maintain SW design documents
- Provide technical leadership and ownership of critical system components
- Providing expert consultation and liaison to Danger's external partners
Job Requirements:
- BSCS/BSEE or equivalent industry experience
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, preferably designing and developing for mobile embedded devices
- Excellent understanding of embedded real time Operating System concepts
- Excellent programming and debugging skills in C/C++
- Working knowledge of Java programming (J2ME/J2SE) or C#
- Expertise in Object Oriented Design
- Experience with NetBSD or Linux-based device development a plus
- Solid understanding of multi-threaded programming concepts
- Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills
- In-depth knowledge of radio (2.5G / 3G) stacks and requirements
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP stack development/implementation
- Background in the following technologies is a plus: GSM, CDMA, UMTS, WiFi, UMA
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
