Position Description
Defines requirements for mechanical standards (Fasteners and Standard Parts) and assembly/installation processes used in the manufacture of products. This includes development, qualification, specification writing, design support, production support and failure analysis. Manages test and audit programs to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements. Candidate must have demonstrated technical expertise in mechanical standards and assembly/installation processes. Experience in development, qualification, support and failure analysis is required. Candidate must be able to interface technically with internal and external customers and have demonstrated ability to write detailed engineering reports. Candidate will also work as project lead to support planning/scheduling on research and development programs and technically respond to customer needs within allocated budgets. Demonstrated performance must include strong interpersonal skills, a team orientation, consistent work habits and a strong focus on execution.

Education and/or Experience
Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 2 or more years' experience or a Master's degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Other Job related information
Prefer Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, metallurgical engineering or metallurgy. Limited travel is required to support supplier surveys and qualifications.
