Position Description
This position is to provide Liaison Engineering support to the Production Integration and Test Team conducting integration and test of the Ground-based Midcourse Defense Program (GMD) Interceptor at the Missile Assembly Building, as well as other activities conducted at the GMD facilities at Vandenberg Air Force Base, CA. This position will also require trips to Huntsville, AL for training and other development activities. Leads others to analyze, conduct root cause analysis and develop dispositions for design non-conformances. Develops and implements product/process improvements. Uses innovative approaches and unique applications to address complex nonconforming conditions and to detect deviations, identification, resolution and closure of non-conformances encountered during interceptor testing. Analyzes reported problems for potential safety issues; recommends and manages complex resolution. Leads develop of interim and final solutions. Provides design phase subject matter expertise by supporting Integrated Product Teams (IPT) and participating in design reviews. Represents the engineering community in the build through post production environment. This will require the ability to incorporate remedial and corrective action into non-conformances. Material Review Board certification is required for this position.

Education and/or Experience
Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
