PURPOSE OF POSITION: To assist in the planning, design, measurement, assessment and improvement of service for the technical functions of the Radiology Department of a Medical Center dedicated to the care of infants, children, adolescents.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Plan, direct, organize, control and improve functions of the Radiology Department in order to meet the fiscal, patient care, research and teaching needs of CCHMC and as determined by the Director.

2.Manage and supervise Imaging technologists, Special Imaging Technologists and Advanced Imaging Technologists.

3.Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and annual evaluations of personnel for jobs in own specific area of responsibility.

4.Prepare schedules, work assignments, educates and holds staff accountable for their actions.

5.Maintains current ARRT and ODH licensure status.

6.Coordinates division meetings. Work with Radiology educator for in-service education programs for new equipment, procedures, and policies.

7.Work closely with the Medical Director of Radiology and Chief Technologist to assure high quality of customer expectations.

8.Holds staff accountable for the highest standard of customer service.

9.Demonstrates complete working knowledge of all equipment within their imaging section.

10.Responsible for counseling employees regarding staffing, attendance, scheduling, disciplinary action according to department and hospital rules and regulations.

11.Adheres to, role models and enforces CCHMC policy

12.Ensures that work area is safe and organized

13.Assures compliance with JCAHO and ODH regulations.

14.Actively prepares and participates with JCAHO and ODH reviews

15.Provides instruction to the training of new and student technologists and ancillary personnel.

16.Recommends changes in operations that affect productivity, efficiency, and quality of services.

17.Assures adequate inventory of supplies.

18.Prepares payroll records.

19.Assists the Chief Technologist/Business Director in preparation of budgets and global review of department operations.

20.Plan appropriate utilization of staff, time, and capabilities; recommends changes as needed.

21.Motivate and appraise reporting personnel

22.Responsible for the proper handling and maintenance of Department equipment ' review minor and major equipment needs (replacement and utilization)

23.Preform functions as a staff imaging technologist as required.

24.Participate in employee orientation program.

25.Make job requirements, goals and standards for each position clear to employees and provide sufficient training to achieve the desired level of competency, document evidence of competence on a continuing basis.

26.Provide education to personnel, patients or family through structured presentations and unstructured interactions while performing tests or resolving technical questions.

27.Monitor service areas, plan approaches for improvement activities, design new processes collect and measure data, review and report performance overtime, improve and redesign processes based on the evaluation and reassess continuously.

28.Manage attendance as required by CHMC training sessions, including radiation safety, laboratory safety, blood borne pathogens, and OSHA.

29.Possesses sound knowledge of procedures and regulations specific to the assessment and care of infants, children and adolescents.

30.Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS:. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Capable of relationg to diverse and demographic backgrounds. Organizational ability sufficient to plan and control the activities and technical personnel to the Radiology department. Demonstrates diplomacy, tact and a professional demeanor. Possesses organization, analysis supervision and prioritization abilities.

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent. ARRT registered and ODH license. Minimum 3 years' experience, preferably within a pediatric environment. Lead position/Radiology Management experience preferred.
