LOCATION: Riverton
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK: This position will provide focused, positive and healthy activity choices for approximately 250 inmates during times when they are not involved in programming or work activities. There will be an education component that will provide wellness activities, exercise groups, and related nutrition and exercise components. In addition this position will work with Administration, designated inmate groups and the institution community as a whole to coordinate community service projects. This position will coordinate with both Programming and Security to provide scheduling of activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Identify, apply for approval, schedule and supervise inmate recreational activities for 250 inmates which will include education components, organized exercise components, and community activities; Work with Administration and designated inmate groups to provide meetings and other activities; Schedule and help to supervise on-site activities; Schedule and coordinate Community Service Activities for inmates.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Knowledge of the use of computers; Word, Excel, Specialized software; Knowledge and skills in the use of recreational equipment and office equipment; Basic knowledge of sports/recreational activities; Knowledge and ability to read and organize; Skills in time management; Ability to communicate in a friendly and effective manner, both verbally & in writing; Ability to manage large groups of people; Ability to set appropriate personal boundaries.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of training and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in physical education, recreation, activity therapy or closely related field.
A background information check, including the taking of fingerprints, will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation, the Department of Family Services and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for every successful applicant.
Candidates will be subject to background and reference investigation and shall be required to submit to urinalysis testing to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment
