GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The Wyoming State Penitentiary Warehouse manages a wide variety of goods used to support the prison in a positive working environment. The Warehouse Technician is responsible for accepting and dispensing freight to various departments and works as a member of the warehouse team. The Technician also supports other departments as needed. This is an entry-level position and has professional development opportunities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Under general supervision, receives freight into the warehouse; orders and organizes uniforms; place orders as needed and calls vendors; writes purchase orders; delivers, stocks and checks Canteen inventory as needed; supervises a work crew of inmates as needed.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Knowledge of inventory control, bookkeeping and filing systems; must be able to lift 50 pounds with or without accommodation; knowledge of correctional custody, law enforcement or security; skills in use of office equipment, typing and Microsoft programs, including Word and Excel; skill in problem solving, organization and communication; skill in running and understanding the operation of warehouse jacks and lifts; ability to work with convicted felons in a penitentiary environment; ability to stand for prolonged periods of time; skill in oral and written communication; ability to work overtime as needed; forklift certification preferred; must have a valid drivers license or the ability to obtain one.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of training and experience equivalent to a high school diploma,PLUS one year of work experience in a warehouse or storeroom inventory control and supply operations.
Candidates will be subject to background and reference investigation and shall be required to submit to urinalysis testing to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
