DEPARTMENT: Department of Corrections, Prisons, Wyoming Womens Center
LOCATION: Lusk
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Performs a variety of tasks including co-managing a case load of approximately 40 - 50 adult female offenders in an all-level security correctional facility. Management of offenders is accomplished through a variety of departmental modalities which include the WDOC classification instrument and needs assessment; quarterly individual reviews, delivery of instructional programs in the areas of cognitive skill development. Routine situational advice and guidance in the area of appropriate human relations is constantly and consistently applied in the assigned inmate living unit as well as referrals to outside agencies as needed to meet inmate need.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Complete intake packet information, WDOC classification instrument, needs
assessment, quarterly individual reviews and reports requested by parole board, judges and other legal entities for inmates assigned to caseload. Deliver instructional programs in the areas of cognitive skill development. Meet individually with inmates on caseload to assure appropriate progress, to reinforce skills, and to help the inmate problem solve appropriately in correction environment. Serve as member of Unit Management Team which is designated group to teach and facilitate appropriate community living skills for inmates.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Knowledge of human behavior, motivation, and interpersonal behavior;
knowledge of various techniques of programming/education and ability to translate this knowledge into appropriate action; knowledge of WDOC and WWC policies and procedures; knowledge of office procedures and paper flow; skill in written and oral communication; skill in interpretation of inmate behaviors and personal information; skill in being non-biased and flexible; knowledge in the use of computers and audio/visual equipment; ability to organize and manage inmate working files; skill in communicating and interacting with low to high functioning adults

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of training and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, sociology, psychology, criminal justice or administration of justice or closely related field.

NOTE: Positions in this class will require a background information check,INCLUDING the taking of fingerprints, which will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation, the Department of Family Services and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, for every successful applicant.

Candidates will be required to submit to urinalysis testing to screen for illegal drug use and must successfully pass criminal history investigation and reference checks, prior to appointment.
