About us
Windows Mobile is the fastest growing business at Microsoft. The World of Mobile Devices is growing even faster. Our team is at the cutting edge of the amazing world of mobile devices improving Windows Mobile to meet customer demands. Your mission will be to deliver high quality features to customers in short (3-6 month) cycles to enable latest technology and new user experiences/scenarios.
Role & Opportunity
Are you interested in growing in a development lead? Windows Mobile has grown to a point where we now need to support sustained engineering. Rather than create a dedicated SE team, we believe in the mantra "You broke it, You fix it". We are looking for a strong IC with excellent technical and cross group collaboration skills. You will be responsible for driving the SE process on behalf of our development team. This means triaging issues, driving resolution of issues through your peers and with other teams and ensuring deadlines are met. You will be responsible for identifying and implementing the tools needed to improve the efficiency of our processes as well as finding out and implementing SE best practices from other parts of the company. You must be hands on and willing to dig in and resolve issues yourself as well as review the work of others. This position currently does not involve direct reports but as the team grows, you will be looking at taking on direct reports and be responsible for core feature work as well.
You will contribute to the end-to-end software stack of a mobile device, which includes the core Windows CE kernel and networking stack, Windows Mobile platform (phone, shell, sync, email, PIM, etc.) and other apps like mobile Windows Media Player and other corporate security and device management APIs.
This is a great opportunity for developers with strong technical fundamentals and a drive for results who are looking to get into mobile technologies and interested in developing the skills needed to be successful in a management career path.
Qualifications
* 4+ years of industry experience in software design (C++, Win32, Windows development)
* Completed college degree (preferably in computer science or related field; preferably a master's degree)
