Position Description
Systems Engineer specializing in underwater or acoustic sensor system design and test. System Engineer working in support of Advanced Information Systems (AIS) programs. Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify a lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions. Evaluates customer/operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. Performs/conducts functional requirements analyses/allocation/refinements, trade studies, and design evaluations. Generates system/segment requirements specifications. Assists in the integration of technical, cost, value, risks and specialty engineering considerations into definition of the product. Interfaces with other members of the project or program teams, management, customers and suppliers to meet group, organization and company objectives. Trace requirements from system level down to component level. Support ECPs and major proposals as needed. Resolves cross-functional technical issues. Some travel may be required.Candidate must possess ability to work in a dynamic Boeing-lead multi-contractor, multi-customer team environment in the coordination of Systems Engineering and Integration activities. Experience with the DOORS database management system and requirements flow down process is desired. The position also requires strong coordination, organization, teaming and communication abilities. The successful candidate should have a broad engineering or scientific background and demonstrated capability in multidiscipline engineering tasks (EE, ME, SW, I&T Engineering). Experience with control systems as well as guidance and navigation is desired. Familiarity with analysis tools such as MatLab the ability to write software scripts, is desired. Good problem solving skills are required. A working knowledge of functional thread analysis techniques is desired. Familiarity with risk management procedures and associated tools is desired. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and good oral and written skills are required. The position requires United States citizenship and the ability to obtain a TS/SSBI security clearance. Current TS/SSBI is desired.
