Position Objectives

The Senior Procurement Manager position is responsible for several key management responsibilities within the E&D Procurement Team. The primary emphasis of the position involves the following three objectives:
1. Provide leadership, execution, and ownership of large, complex, pan-organizational supplier engagement.
2. Enable and manage sourcing capabilities, co-accountable with internal support teams, for the execution and implementation of the broader electrical team sourcing strategy.
3. A lead contributor targeting year-on-year improvement in total cost, quality, and service by facilitating strategic sourcing activities for a portfolio of commodities within the team.
This management position is a report to the Director of Procurement - Memory/Electrical, based in Redmond, with a matrix extended team throughout Manufacturing and likely continuing to the rest of the company.

Key responsibilities for this position include the following deliverables:
1. Lead, manage, own, and communicate pan-organizational engagements with leading partners in the EE / memory market segment. Provide sound counsel to the organization on opportunities, risks, and off-setting strategies and tactics to improve better company-to-company alignments.
2. Facilitate the development of the sourcing strategy for assigned categories. Communicate, monitor and aggressively manage business unit compliance with the strategy.
3. Maintain close alignment with category teams. Ensure full understanding and support of team-defined sourcing strategies. Participate in periodic reviews of team progress and become actively engaged during the development of the implementation plan.
4. Develop an expertise in E&D business needs and capabilities for category components. Understand and lead negotiations for both purchase and master agreements often with an emphasis on a broader, pan-Microsoft implementation.
5. Monitor and report supplier performance and initiate both formal and informal review procedures are required to address performance-related issues.
6. Identify and implement TCO reduction opportunities for assigned categories as well as best practice opportunities for improvement.
7. Provide vision, guidance, evaluation, and mentoring to the extended Procurement team.

Professional/Personal Skill Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a Bachelors degree, +15 years of progressive, management experience and at least 10 years of Procurement or Manufacturing exposure. Additional competencies include a solid foundation in business management, finance, analytics, and outstanding communication skills up to an including C-level management. Other competencies include an excellent understanding of strategy and planning and managing projects in a highly competitive environment.

Mature and confident this person must have a proven track record of leadership and performance in the management of a high caliber Procurement team. In addition, she/he must demonstrate the ability to push the boundaries of the organization, lead via influence and be a catalyst for and driver of change in the organization.

Travel is expected to be manageable at less than 20% with some being international, mostly to Asia.
