John Deere Phoenix International is seeking a Buyer to work with production control and purchasing to ensure on-time delivery of parts to meet production schedules. In this position, you will:
Review unplanned and open shop orders to ensure materials are available to meet customer ship dates.
Manage order entry, expedites, cancellations & disposition of rejected materials of assigned commodity codes to meet production schedule.
Review past due order status of purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of materials.
Achieve inventory turns established by management for purchased components through the use of EDI, build to forecast, Kan-Ban systems or other inventory management programs.
Use good purchasing and negotiation practices to maintain a favorable purchase price variance.
Assist Supply Management through selective negotiations; decrease the number of active suppliers to better achieve inventory turns, higher quality, and better pricing.
Support manufacturing efforts to obtain Quality & Productivity goals.
Effectively manage assigned commodity codes to meet delivery and costing objectives.
Support cross-functional efforts on assigned commodity codes.
Education
Bachelor's degree in a Business/Management, Supply Management or an Engineering/Technology discipline highly preferred or equivalent experience.
Required Skills and Experience
1 year experience in a purchasing role, such as: supplier integration, strategic supply management, supplier development, etc.
High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Word and intermediate Excel skills).
Strong interpersonal communications and negotiation skills with the ability to influence others.
Self directed with good time management and organization skills.
Understanding of manufacturing processes and operations.
Demonstrated team work and leadership skills.
Desired Skills and Experience
Project management experience in a cross-functional environment.
Working experience with an ERP/ MRP system.
Understand cost drivers/structure for assigned commodities.
Experience working with global commodities.
