John Deere World Wide Headquarters is seeking a Category Manager of Maintenance to be a member of the Global Category Team responsible for global and regional category strategies. In this position, you will:
Lead global or regional Category Management and Strategic Sourcing for a category of spend.
Be a team lead / core team member on category and sourcing teams in developing and implementing sourcing strategies to design the optimal supply base that meets organizational demands and secures the lowest total cost for purchased products and services.
Authorize and/or negotiate, in conjunction with Global Category Manager, long-term agreements with key suppliers for multiple factories, regional, division or enterprise, as required lowest total cost of ownership. Assemble and analyze data to arrive at Request for Quote (RFQ) / Request for Proposal (RFP) criteria, a final list of potential suppliers, and a negotiation strategy.
Drive the implementation plan for the category strategy, establishing metrics and tracking tools to measure progress in meeting objectives and serving continuous improvement.
Manage high level, strategic supplier contacts with key or high-impact suppliers as they are selected and integrated into the business operations -- developing relationships with upper management to assure long-term strategic sources.
Define, resolve, and provide permanent solutions to systemic supplier performance issues with the assistance of other functional representatives such as manufacturing, engineering, marketing, human resources, information technology.

Education
Bachelor's degree in the disciplines of Supply Management, Business, Engineering/Technology or equivalent experience.
Required Skills and Experience
Understanding of Maintenance.
Project management skills including team leadership; change management; & strategy development / implementation.
Experience managing inputs from multiple functional stakeholder groups.
Successful negotiating experiences.
Experience developing/managing contracts.
Excellent interpersonal, communications and relationship management skills.
Available for travel up to 25% (domestic & international).
Desired Skills and Experience
Work experience in Maintenance industry.
In-Depth knowledge and application of Supply Management processes and tools.
Demonstrated ability to quickly learn functional / technical trends & actively pursues lifelong self improvement.
Proven rapid mastery of assignments creating strategies that balance short term requirements with long range business plans.
Demonstrated success in engaging others to effectively execute business strategies when business conditions change.
Cost analysis capabilities.
Experience developing and managing large scale projects (e.g. multi-unit or multi-divisional).
Experience leading in cross functional teams and/or supervisory work experience.
