TiVo's Service Provider Division Systems Operations is looking for a talented systems operations engineer to help with the general care of our production and lab servers. This position is an interesting mix of System Administration, Project Management and some development activities.
You would be responsible for the installation, maintenance and daily operation of the TiVo Experience (TE) servers within the TiVo - Service Provider Division (SPD). You Will install and maintain both development and production environments, performs day to day operation of TiVo's SPD server infrastructure. Here's what you'll get to do:
Install, configure, and maintain TE hardware and software, for development and deployment environments
Troubleshoot systems problems, using all available information to recommend and implement appropriate solutions
Troubleshoot systems remotely to resolve issues that may occur on systems where direct access is not possible
Work with other teams within the organization and at other third parties to create and maintain a stable scalable infrastructure
Create, review, and maintain the policies and procedures used in the operation of the TE Servers
Write "how-to" and technical reference documentation for the system
Some travel will be required to our remote lab, trial and test sites for installation, troubleshooting and maintenance
Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation which requires physical availability
Here's what you will need to be successful:
At least 5 years related professional experience working in IT and/or operations around DVRs and digital living room entertainment required
Strong experience in UNIX/Linux systems, networking, and distributed computing required
Strong experience in network security concepts and demonstrated experience with security technologies
Strong conceptual understanding of high availability systems
Prior scripting experience using Perl, Tel, Bash, etc. required
Experience in a 24/7/365 operations environment required
