Job Overview:
ATMI is seeking a Field Service Engineer. The Field Service Engineer will work as part of a global team of Field Service Engineers with varied levels of responsibility. The candidate will work in a challenging multi-national environment and will be expected to complete assignments with minimal supervision. Partnering with the business units and marketing teams will be critical for success. The output of this function will have high exposure to Senior Management, the individual has the ability to drive improvements, play a key role in future business and system expansions as well as the implementation of new systems/processes. The Field Service Engineer will be located inRound Rock, Texas and report to The Manager, Field Service.
Primary Responsibilities:
Plans and coordinates activities concerned with installing equipment, investigating and resolving customer reports of technical problems with equipment, and eliminating future operational or service difficulties by performing the following duties;
Installs new or modified equipment at customer's facility to ensure full functionality according to specifications;
Reviews performance reports and documentation from customers and field representatives, and inspects malfunctioning or damaged product to determine nature and scope of problem;
Analyzes review and inspection findings to determine source of problem, and recommends repair, replacement, or other corrective action;
Coordinates problem resolution with engineering, customer service, and other personnel to expedite repairs;
Provides on-site technical assistance to help troubleshoot and repair equipment;
Maintains records of performance reports;
Analyzes reports of technical problems to determine trends affecting future design, production, service, and maintenance processes, and recommends modifications to eliminate future problems;
Assists in the development of service handbooks and bulletins based on field investigations, engineering changes, and overall knowledge of product. Provides a communication link between the customer and the company to help ensure that effective service is provided to the customer;
Develops and conducts training on the safe operations of the equipment and demonstrates skills to trainees, including both team members and customers;
Ensure customer satisfaction with installation, troubleshooting, repair, preventive maintenance, engineering change upgrades, etc. of all ATMI equipment;
Follow prescribed safety procedures and properly maintain PPE. Conduct equipment installation check-out and start-up;
Test and approve operational quality of ATMI equipment at the customer site. Set up, calibrate and operate analytical equipment, flow meters, data loggers, or other equipment as required;
Instruct customers in the operation and maintenance of the equipment. Serve as company liaison with customers on administrative and technical matters;
Education/Experience:
Associate's degree (A. S.) ChemE/MechE/Electronic Engineering Technology or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of specialty gases, hazardous materials handling, PPE, clean room protocol, safety procedures, and ISO;
5+ years experience in mechanical/electrical troubleshooting required with knowledge in plumbing preferred;
Prior experience in field service/technical support with a capital equipment company recommended but not required;
Knowledgeable in environmental control and/or the semiconductor industry;
Ability to work responsibly and independently Results oriented, flexible and positive/professional Knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Internet software and Database software;
Ability to travel overnight and on short notice up to 50% of the time (domestic and international).
Ability to be on call;
Strong verbal and written communication skills and customer interface skills Valid Driver's License and Passport Education/Experience;
Understanding of PLCs, equipment power distribution systems and control systems. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outdoor weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Must be able to work in industrial areas where high voltage equipment and hazardous materials are used. Must be able to handle containers of hazardous materials and specialty gases.
