Microsoft Game Studios is looking for an experienced Audio Director to oversee a portfolio of MGS 1st party titles. The position requires a unique balance of 1st hand 'in-the-trenches' audio experience, a broad knowledge base of game audio production, and sharp management skills.
MGS is a highly creative environment where new ideas are welcome. A strong sense of innovation and problem solving is encouraged. Each MGS title has unique and specific needs, so a flexibility of approach is called for while holding the quality bar high. Creative and technical consulting is a common function for an MGS audio director. These are the opportunities we use to propose an innovative feature, or find ways to optimize the production process.
MGS Audio Directors work with existing audio teams, and/or staff audio teams as needed. Experience hiring (free-lance or full-time) and managing teams is important. Creating budgets and maintaining schedules for audio productions is part of the oversight.
Requirements for the position include:
5 years experience in game audio
Experience leading an audio team or teams
A deep understanding of available game audio technology including:
o Existing audio engines and tools
o 3D Audio concepts
o Audio integration techniques
o Interactive music
A good grasp of all aspects of audio production including, SFX, VO, Music, and Technology.
o One specific area of which you consider yourself a subject matter expert.
Examples of excellence and innovation in shipped titles or audio tools development
A demo of existing work will be required
