This opening is for a key member of the WGX Windows Platform Development team. As SDE Lead, primary responsibilities include providing technical leadership to your team, a ton of cross group collaboration, hands on design & implementation, driving complex issues to closure, providing guidance & mentorship for developers coming onboard, collaborating on functional requirements, and coordinating team deliverables. As an added bonus, you'll gain exposure to a variety of technologies both as part of Windows and leveraging services to develop systems & components that result in great experiences for Windows gamers and delight of our platform development customers.
Qualified candidates must have strong technical background including 3+ years of Windows development experience and at least one year as a development lead or in a technical leadership role. We are partnering with several teams across Microsoft and will be working with external developer communities, so strong communication, collaboration, problem solving, and technical skills are a must. Strong debugging, analytical, architectural and design skills are also required. Strong experience in development of production software in Windows using C++ and object-oriented design and the Win32 API through multiple full development cycles is required. Other requirements for this position include the ability to write clear, maintainable, performance-sensitive, secure, globalization-ready code; demonstrated technical leadership; and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment. Having COM, DirectX, Security, Web Service/SOAP, Kernel, or Networking experience preferred. Understanding of the Windows Engineering Excellence processes and requirements as well as a BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred.
