Responsibilities:
The System Engineer is a partner with the Regional Sales Manager in the sales process, participates in the creation of sales strategy and tactics required to close the sale, and holds the fundamental ownership of all technical aspects associated with customer accounts. As part of a Sales team, the successful Federal System Engineer candidate will provide Ixia products technical sales support for sales opportunities within the Federal Marketplace; will perform in-depth and high-level technical presentations for customers and will support customers with Ixia products evaluation, bake-offs and provide post sales support as needed.
Requirements:
Must relocate/reside in the Washington DC area.
Must be a U.S. Citizen ? the majority of Federal customers require U.S. citizenship for onsite visits.
Pre-sales and/or post-sales or QA experience is desired (e.g., Sales Engineer, Customer Support Engineer, Test Engineer)
1 to 3 years networking industry experience; network equipment testing is a plus.
Technical background and understanding of Ethernet switching, routing, and IP Protocols.
Knowledge of networking technologies, protocols, services and applications including Ethernet, Metro Ethernet, IPv4/IPv6, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, MPLS VPNs, QoS, VoIP and TCP.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to translate and document customer needs into requirements
Highly organized and possess a keen analytical and structured approach to problem solving.
Must be able to operate independently juggling multiple competing priorities.
This job will require a minimum of 25% travel
Must be able to communicate, both oral and written, on complex technical and sales issues.
Bachelors of Science in Computer Networking or equivalent experience.
