NOC Operator
We are searching for a strong troubleshooter who possesses a high-level understanding of networking principles, Windows Servers and UNIX operating systems. You have the proven ability to learn new systems quickly. You are a self-starter who is able to multitask and work well under pressure with little supervision. You can quickly recognize and efficiently handle matters involving critical real time events. Your excellent communication and teamwork skills enable you to interact effectively with internal and external customers, managers and staff with ease. You enjoy the challenge of a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
-Provide 24/7/365 support under limited supervision for servers and applications in a production e-commerce environment.
-Ensure all procedures and processes are up to date and followed.
-In addition to monitoring systems, you will provide internal escalation support for other NOC Operators for customer facing websites, delivery servers, Vitria BusinessWare, Akamai content caching, SAN storage, Oracle Financials and the network backbone.
-Master all monitoring systems, including Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM), OP Manager, WhatsUp and other in house applications.
-Perform metadata and dynamic content uploads to staging and production environments.
-Effectively escalate issues both internally and externally while working with outside vendors and internal support in order to resolve problems.
-Provide first level VPN support to global users.
Requirements:
-Prior experience working in a NOC environment.
-Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN and other networking principles.
-Knowledge of both Microsoft Windows Server and Solaris UNIX operating systems with the ability to navigate, manipulate and troubleshoot in both environments.
-Experience with Internet Information Services (IIS 6.0) and Apache preferred.
-AA Degree or equivalent.
-Previous experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle and MySQL preferred.
-Experience working with infrastructure monitoring applications and other industry standard NOC tools (i.e. MOM, OP Manager, WhatsUp, Big Brother).
