AECOM is searching for an Expert on Climate Change and Water Sustainability. The purpose of this position is to lead in strengthening our position and collaborative efforts to address climate change within a sustainable society. Our Water Sustainability Program includes reducing the carbon footprint, energy management, sustainability in new design, greening the environment in infrastructure projects, and assistance in developing plans for communities and governmental agencies to address changes in sea level rise and water availability due to uncertain changes in the future climate.
Key Responsibilities include:
· Lead innovation to advance climate-change awareness and increase our capacity to respond to global climate issues.
· Understanding of strategic or long-term decisions about water resources management and its relationship to climate change.
· Research and analyze key areas of strategic interest for future business.
· Develop the organizations network, ensuring involvement with key decisions being made by governmental, public and private sectors.
· Understanding of national and international climate change funding.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in one or more of the following:
· Expertise relevant to exploring the impacts of climate change; knowledge of sustainability issues related to water, wastewater, sea level rise, carbon footprint reductions, energy management, and other sustainability or climate change issues.
· Knowledge of models used for climate change-induced disturbances to hydrologic processes and mitigation of climate change-related impacts; influence of urbanization and/or prediction of extreme hydrologic events.
· Established network within the fields of energy, water resources or sustainable development.
· Ability to build and sustain effective partnerships with agencies and main constituents, advocate effectively, communicate sensitively across different constituencies.
· Working with government agencies, civil society organizations and the private sector to address the challenge of climate change.
· Be able to demonstrate strong business acumen and financial knowledge, along with senior level experience in sustainability.
· Evidence of a strong commitment to environmental and social causes of concern.
Job Requirements:
· Advanced Degree in atmospheric science, meteorology, engineering, hydrology, physical sciences, planning, or related field.
· Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in project management and program development.
· Strong entrepreneurial spirit and excellent communications skills.
· Willingness to travel.
